Fit
Centimetres,
not letters.
The model in the photographs is 186 cm and wears size 48. That is stated on every product page, next to the table.
The four figures
- A · Shoulder
- Seam to seam across the back, along the top of the shoulder. The one measurement a shirt cannot be altered around, so start here.
- B · Chest
- Measured flat one centimetre below the armhole, then doubled. Compare it with a shirt you already like rather than with your own chest.
- C · Length
- From the base of the collar at the back down to the lowest point of the hem.
- D · Sleeve
- From the shoulder seam to the edge of the cuff. On short sleeves, to the hem of the sleeve.
Linen relaxes about half a centimetre through the chest after the third wash and gains it back when pressed. We do not size for that; we mention it.
Cuts
Four bodies.
Slim
Taken in through the waist and the armhole. Roughly 8 cm less through the chest than regular at the same size.
Regular
Our reference cut. A size 48 measures 108 cm around the chest, laid flat and doubled.
Relaxed
A dropped shoulder and 8 cm more through the chest. The cloth stops touching you, which is most of what cool means.
Oversized
14 cm more through the chest than regular, on one shirt only. Deliberately the loosest thing we make.
We do not sell a one-size garment. Every shirt in the catalogue runs the full size range with its own measured table.
Vocabulary
Collars.
Classic point
Points angled down and in. Sits under a jacket lapel and takes a tie.
Band
A stand with no leaf at all. Formal by proportion; nothing to leave open.
Camp
One piece, cut to lie flat and open. There is no top button to close.
Open
A soft rolled stand that holds its shape unfastened. Reads finished with nothing at the throat.
Vocabulary
Cuffs.
Single barrel
One button through one hole. The default on every long sleeve unless stated.
Double, for links
Folded back on itself and closed with a link. On the Occasion line only.
Roll tab
A tab inside the sleeve buttons the roll in place, so it stays where you put it.
If it is the wrong size
You have fourteen days from the day the parcel reaches you to withdraw from the purchase, for any reason at all, including having simply changed your mind. That is a statutory right and it sits on top of the two-year legal guarantee of conformity.
